Here’s just a few of the websites and projects I have been involved with recently. Most, if not all projects here are ‘from the ground-up’ projects where I host, design each site, help with domain names and DNS and also basic social media implementation.
DTF MP3 Download Stores :
This was ground up build of a Direct to Fan MP3 download store for dance music artist 99th Floor Elevators, enjoying something of a mini-revival with renewed interest in #EDM and their Hard House/Trade anthem ‘Hooked’. I uploaded WAVs, changed the DNS so the store would reflect the bands URL and designed banners and a couple of download ‘sleeves’. I used Bandcamp and Paypal so the artist sees 85% of the transaction vs. approx 65% if the same sale had been made on iTunes.
Same process for Florida based Gospel/Christian singer Karen Scott. Using Bandcamp for the backend this was a straightforward, upload and encode job for the artist with the most time consuming aspect being the CD upload process. After that it was all plain sailing with a few banner designs and text editing to finish off.
A basic WordPress install with several plugins and a few theme mods here. Buzzsonic has been around since 2005 and is very popular amongst music industry news watchers with the hyperactive @buzzsonic Twitter account fast approaching 10,000 followers.
Cindy is a Florida based author and writer and had been abandoned by her previous web design guy, who also controlled her domain names. Ouch. I managed to transfer domain name ownership and rebuild the original WordPress install from scratch. I also plugged things into Twitter with a matching background and got her started on the micro blogging social platform.
A good example of how a simple five page WordPress website can get a local business noticed within days. This was a ground up project where the owner wanted the site to act more as an online contact point than an ecommerce venture. The site was indexed by Google within 48 hours of going live and we claimed the Google Places entry. There is much more awareness for the business locally, and of course top Google result for “Horam Butchers”. Job done. I also kickstarted the shops presence on Twitter and Facebook in a more concerted effort to create awareness about the shop.
Another ground-up rebuild and host of a WordPress install, where I modified the original template to suit the client, added images and various WordPress plugins. I also helped sharpen up the artists Twitter account and plugged-in a Facebook MP3 store and a D2F download store.
The remit here was for a ground-up build using WordPress for a website offering French/English translation services. I helped with content and basic SEO and supplied some of the copyright free photos and kickstarted the owners Twitter page. The site was soon in second place in Google search for ‘carcassonne translation services’.
Still in the first page of results in Google for “Florida travel resources” iExploreFlorida was a ground up project using Indexu as the directory script. Much neglected at the moment but coming up for a remodel and rename.
Feel free to ask about anything WordPress related, from choosing the right theme, purchasing premium themes, plug-ins and all points in-between. I can also arrange a DTF MP3 store and find suitable worldwide distribution for music artists and bands.
